Description

Quilters Dream Select Poly is a polyester batting made from fine denier microfibers, with more than 60 million fibers per pound against about 5 million in an ordinary polyester batt. That is why it feels and drapes more like a natural fiber than a typical poly. It is needle-punched with no scrim, resin or glue, and this roll is the ultra-bright white, the right choice under white and light negative space.

Each roll is 60" wide by 30 yards. That width covers throw quilts, baby and crib quilts, table runners and wall hangings in one piece, and the 30-yard length works out to roughly fifteen throw-size cuts. It is the roll we point longarmers to for lap-quilt production and for small customer jobs where a 93" roll would waste batting. For twin tops and larger, use the 93" roll.

Select is the mid loft, warm and breathable, and it resists bunching and shifting well enough to be quilted up to 12" apart. There is no shrinkage, which gives a flat, modern finish with pre-washed fabrics, and it resists creasing in storage and travel. It is not microwave-safe.

This roll is sold on pre-order and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

Compare and choose

Quilters Dream Poly vs Hobbs Polydown: which should I buy?
Both are soft, resin-free polyester battings. Hobbs Polydown is a bonded poly with a noticeably higher loft and more puff. Dream Select Poly is a mid-loft microfiber batting with a flatter, more natural drape and can be quilted up to 12" apart. Choose Polydown for a fluffier quilt; choose Dream Poly when you want polyester washability without the puffy look. Hobbs Polydown 108" roll
Request, Select or Deluxe Poly: which loft?
Request is the thinnest poly in the line, Select (this roll) is mid loft, and Deluxe is heavier with more loft. Select is the all-round choice. Go down to Request for wall hangings and a very flat look, or up to Deluxe for a warmer, puffier bed quilt. Deluxe White Poly roll
Polyester or 80/20 for a bed quilt?
Polyester is lighter, warmer for its weight, does not shrink and dries fast, which makes it a good choice for kids, guest rooms and quilts that get washed often. An 80/20 blend feels more like a traditional cotton quilt and crinkles slightly after washing. If you want the quilt to feel like cotton, buy the Dream 80/20; if you want easy care and a modern flat finish, buy the poly. Select Natural 80/20 roll
Is a 60" roll wide enough for a twin quilt?
No. A twin top is about 72" wide and you want batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of the top. The 60" roll is sized for throws (60" x 72" and smaller), crib quilts, runners and wall hangings. For twin and larger, step up to the 93" roll. 93" roll
White or black poly?
White under white, pastel and most medium fabrics. Use the Midnight Black roll under black, navy, brown, burgundy and forest-green tops, where a white batting can show through needle holes and lighten the fabric. Select Black Poly roll
Is it microwave-safe?
No. Polyester melts in the microwave. For bowl cozies and hot pads use 100% cotton batting with no scrim, such as Dream Select Cotton, with cotton fabric and cotton thread.
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
