Description

Quilters Dream Select Natural 80/20 blends 80% long-staple cotton with 20% fine denier polyester microfibers. The polyester adds a little volume, wrinkle resistance and washability to the cotton without changing how it quilts, and unlike most 80/20 battings there is no scrim, resin or binder in it. Select is the mid loft, lightweight and the loft most quilters want for everyday bed quilts.

Each roll is 60" wide by 30 yards. That width covers throw quilts, baby and crib quilts, table runners and wall hangings in one piece, and the 30-yard length works out to roughly fifteen throw-size cuts. It is the roll we point longarmers to for lap-quilt production and for small customer jobs where a 93" roll would waste batting. For twin tops and larger, use the 93" roll.

It works for hand and machine quilting, drapes smoothly, shows stitch definition well and can be quilted up to 8" apart. Shrinkage is minimal and there is no need to pre-wash. It is not microwave-safe because of the polyester content.

This roll is sold on pre-order and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

Compare and choose

Quilters Dream 80/20 vs Hobbs Heirloom 80/20: which should I buy?
Both are needle-punched 80% cotton / 20% polyester blends with no scrim. Hobbs Heirloom is lightly resin-bonded, shrinks 3-5% and should be quilted within 4", which gives the classic crinkled look. Dream 80/20 has no resin, shrinks minimally and can be quilted up to 8" apart, so it suits open pantographs and quilters who want a flatter, modern finish. Hobbs is the better value per roll; Dream 80/20 gives more design freedom. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 96" roll
80/20 vs 100% cotton Dream batting: what is the difference?
Dream Select Cotton is pure cotton and is the one to use for a traditional feel or for microwave projects. The 80/20 adds polyester microfibers that resist wrinkles, speed up drying and add a touch of volume, and it is slightly lighter for the same loft. Both quilt up to 8" apart and neither has a scrim. Select Natural Cotton roll
80/20 vs 70/30 Blend for Machines: which blend?
The 70/30 has more polyester and, unlike the 80/20, is built on an ultralight scrim, so it stretches less on a longarm frame and is the sturdier choice for production work and heavy use. The 80/20 has no scrim and a softer, more cotton-like hand. Hand quilters and anyone who dislikes scrim should pick the 80/20. Select Natural 70/30 roll
Is a 60" roll wide enough for a twin quilt?
No. A twin top is about 72" wide and you want batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of the top. The 60" roll is sized for throws (60" x 72" and smaller), crib quilts, runners and wall hangings. For twin and larger, step up to the 93" roll. 93" roll
Natural or white 80/20?
Natural is right under most fabrics. Under white or very pale tops the cotton tone can shadow through, so use the Select White 80/20 roll, which is made with bleached cotton. Select White 80/20 roll
Do I need to pre-wash it, and will it shrink?
No pre-washing is needed. Shrinkage is minimal, so the finished quilt stays close to its quilted size and crinkles only lightly.
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
