Description

Quilters Dream Select Natural 70/30, sold by Quilters Dream as Dream Blend 70/30 for Machines, is 70% USA cotton and 30% fine denier polyester microfibers needle-punched through an ultralight polypropylene scrim. The scrim is the point: it takes the tug of a longarm frame without stretching, puckering or showing hand prints, which makes this the Dream blend built for machine and production quilting.

Each roll is 60" wide by 30 yards. That width covers throw quilts, baby and crib quilts, table runners and wall hangings in one piece, and the 30-yard length works out to roughly fifteen throw-size cuts. It is the roll we point longarmers to for lap-quilt production and for small customer jobs where a 93" roll would waste batting. For twin tops and larger, use the 93" roll.

It is a mid-loft batting with a soft hand and good drape. The scrim has a melt point of 250F, so dry finished quilts on low, keep them out of commercial dryers, iron on a low setting, and tell your dry cleaner about it. Not microwave-safe.

This roll is sold on pre-order and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

Compare and choose

70/30 Blend for Machines vs Dream 80/20: which blend should I buy?
The 70/30 has a scrim and the 80/20 does not. On a longarm frame the scrim keeps the 70/30 from stretching and lets you load and tension it like a workhorse batting, which is why Quilters Dream calls it the blend for machines. The 80/20 is softer, drapes more like cotton and is the better choice for hand quilting. For a studio quilting customer tops, start with the 70/30. Select Natural 80/20 roll
Dream 70/30 vs Hobbs Heirloom 80/20: what is the difference?
Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 has no scrim, is lightly resin-bonded, shrinks 3-5% and should be quilted within 4". Dream 70/30 has a light scrim, no resin, more polyester and reduced shrinkage, and it handles stretching on a frame better. Choose Hobbs for the traditional crinkled bed quilt; choose Dream 70/30 for stability and a flatter, more modern result. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 96" roll
Does the scrim change how I care for the quilt?
Yes. The polypropylene scrim melts at 250F, so dry the finished quilt on a low setting, avoid commercial dryers, and press with a low iron. If the quilt is dry cleaned, tell the cleaner it has a scrim batting.
Is a 60" roll wide enough for a twin quilt?
No. A twin top is about 72" wide and you want batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of the top. The 60" roll is sized for throws (60" x 72" and smaller), crib quilts, runners and wall hangings. For twin and larger, step up to the 93" roll. 93" roll
Can I hand quilt the 70/30?
You can, but the scrim adds resistance to a hand needle. Quilters Dream developed this blend for machine quilting. For hand work, their scrim-free 80/20 or Select Cotton needles more easily. Select Natural Cotton roll
Is it microwave-safe?
No. It contains polyester and a polypropylene scrim. For bowl cozies and hot pads use a 100% cotton batting without scrim, such as Dream Select Cotton, with cotton fabric and thread.
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
