Description
Quilters Select Blend is a soft, durable cotton/polyester batting for machine and hand quilters who want to quilt and embellish without the batting distorting. The fibers are needle-punched onto a light scrim, which controls stretching and movement under the needle, and the smooth loft gives little resistance as you stitch.
The 122" x 20-yard roll is the format for longarm quilters. At 122" wide it covers a king top in one piece, and the 20-yard length cuts about six kings, eight queens or ten twins. For a single quilt, the pre-cut twin, full, queen and king sizes are easier to handle.
Care matters with this batting: the manufacturer recommends a test piece first and, if you pre-wash, hand washing only. Expect up to 3-5% shrinkage from the natural fibers.

Compare and choose
- Quilters Select Blend vs Hobbs Heirloom 80/20: what is the difference?
- Both are needle-punched cotton/polyester blends that shrink about 3-5%. Quilters Select Blend is built on a light scrim, so it can be quilted up to 8-1/2" apart and resists stretching under heavy quilting or embellishment. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 has no scrim, runs about 1/8" loft, and should be quilted within 4". Choose the Select Blend for open, wide-spaced designs; choose Hobbs for a softer, more drapey hand. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 packages
- Quilters Select Blend roll or Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 120" roll?
- Both cover a king in one piece. The Select Blend roll is 122" x 20 yards, scrim-stabilized and good to 8-1/2" between stitches. The Hobbs 120" roll is 30 yards of scrimless 80/20 to quilt within 4". Longarmers running wide, open pantographs often prefer the scrim; dense custom quilting suits either. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 120" roll
- How many quilts does a 20-yard roll make?
- Twenty yards is 720". At 122" wide that cuts about six 120" kings, eight queens turned crosswise, ten twins, or twenty throws cut two across. Counts assume no waste between cuts.
- Do I need to pre-wash Quilters Select Blend?
- The manufacturer recommends it, by hand only: soak 15 minutes in cool water with a mild detergent, roll in a dry towel to remove water, and dry flat. Never machine wash or dry the batting before quilting. If you skip pre-washing, wash the finished quilt on a delicate cycle in cool water and dry it flat; expect up to 3-5% shrinkage and a slightly wrinkled, antique look.
- How far apart can I quilt it?
- Up to 8-1/2" apart by machine or by hand. The light scrim is what holds the batting together over that distance and keeps it from stretching or shifting during quilting and embellishing.
- Blend or Quilters Select Perfect Cotton?
- Both share the same light scrim and needle-punched construction. The Blend adds polyester for resilience and durability; Perfect Cotton is 100% cotton fiber made with no chemicals and no bleaching. Pick Perfect Cotton for an all-natural quilt, the Blend for a hard-wearing everyday quilt.
