Description

Bosal Craf-Tex sew-in craft strips are a heavyweight, stiff, non-woven stabilizer cut into 1-3/4" strips, 10 yards long. The narrow width is ready for handles, straps, bag gussets, hat bands and the sides of fabric boxes and bowls, so there is no cutting long strips from yardage. Craf-Tex is 100% polyester and made in the USA.

Because it is sew-in, it is stitched into seams or quilted in place rather than ironed on, which is useful when you cannot press the fabric or want to reposition it. For fusible Craf-Tex by the piece, use Craf-Tex Plus Double-Sided Fusible 20" x 36".

Compare and choose

What are 1-3/4" Craf-Tex strips used for?
Anything long and narrow that needs to stay stiff: bag handles and straps, gussets, the sides of fabric bowls and boxes, hat bands and costume pieces. The strip is already cut, so you skip cutting strips from a larger piece.
Sew-in or fusible Craf-Tex: which should I use?
Sew-in strips are stitched into seams and work with fabrics you cannot press. Fusible Craf-Tex Plus bonds to the fabric with an iron so layers cannot shift. Choose sew-in for handles and straps you will topstitch; choose fusible for panels and bottoms. Craf-Tex Plus double-sided fusible
Can I sew through heavyweight Craf-Tex on a home machine?
Yes. Use a larger needle such as a 90/14 or 100/16, a longer stitch and a walking foot if you have one. Trim the stabilizer out of seam allowances to cut bulk.
Craf-Tex vs Peltex or Timtex: which is stiffer?
All are heavyweight, firm stabilizers for structured crafts. Peltex 70 and Timtex come by the yard or as craft packs; these Craf-Tex strips are the pre-cut narrow width. Choose strips for straps and gussets; choose a sheet or bolt for panels. Pellon 70 Peltex 20" bolt
