Description
Kimberbell Wash-Away Sticky-Back is a water-soluble mesh with a water-soluble adhesive coating. Hoop it on its own and float items that are hard to hoop on top. It is made for sheer, lightweight fabrics such as chiffon and organza, and for low stitch count designs where all of the stabilizer must come out afterward.
The 20" width is for large hoops and bigger items. Kimberbell Wash-Away stabilizers dissolve quickly in cool water. For freestanding lace and denser work, use plain Wash-Away.

Compare and choose
- How do I use a sticky-back stabilizer?
- Hoop the stabilizer on its own with the adhesive-coated side up. The coating is water soluble, so activate it following the package directions (typically a light dampening, not a soak), then press the item onto the tacky surface, let it set and stitch.
- Sticky-Back or plain Wash-Away?
- Use Sticky-Back for hard-to-hoop items and low stitch count designs on sheers. Use plain Wash-Away for freestanding lace and cutwork, where the stabilizer carries more stitching. Wash-Away 20" x 10 yd
- How do I remove it?
- Trim the excess, then rinse in cool water. Both the mesh and the adhesive are water soluble, so nothing is left behind on the sheer fabric.
- How does it compare to OESD AquaMesh Plus?
- AquaMesh Plus is also an opaque water-soluble mesh with a water-soluble adhesive coating for hard-to-hoop items and sheers. They do the same job; AquaMesh Plus comes in 10" and 20" widths. AquaMesh Plus 20"
- Tear-away, cut-away or wash-away: which stabilizer do I need?
- Tear-away is for stable woven fabrics where no backing should stay behind: it supports the stitching, then tears off. Cut-away stays in the project permanently and is the right choice for knits, sweatshirts and anything that stretches, because the stitches need support through every wash. Wash-away dissolves in water and is for freestanding lace, sheers and projects where no trace of stabilizer can remain. See a cut-away option
