Description

HeatnBond Craft Extra Firm is a non-woven fusible interfacing for projects that have to hold their shape. It keeps its structure from the moment you fuse it, through finishing, and even after the project is washed. This package is 20" x 1 yard, enough for a few small structured projects or to try it before buying more.

It is firm enough for home decor such as fabric picture frames, bowls, placemats and boxes, and for accessories such as handbags, wallets, belts and hats. For garments and light fabrics it is far too stiff; use the light weight HeatnBond interfacing for those.

Compare and choose

Extra Firm or Lite: which HeatnBond interfacing do I need?
Extra Firm is for things that must stand up or keep a crisp shape: boxes, bowls, frames, belts and bag bottoms. Lite is for garments and lightweight fabrics where you want support without stiffness, such as collars, cuffs and button bands. HeatnBond Lite 20" x 1 yd
HeatnBond Extra Firm vs Pellon Peltex: which one?
Both are stiff non-woven stabilizers for structured crafts. This HeatnBond is fusible, so it bonds to the fabric with an iron. Pellon 70 Peltex is sew-in and ultra-firm, for when you want the stiffest support and plan to stitch it in place. Pellon 70 Peltex sew-in, white
Will it stay stiff after washing?
Yes. HeatnBond says it keeps its shape and structure beyond project completion and even after being washed, which is why it suits placemats and bags that get laundered.
Is it the right interfacing for a fabric bowl?
Yes. Fabric bowls and boxes are what it is made for. It is not for microwave bowl cozies, though: those need a 100% cotton batting such as Pellon Wrap-N-Zap with cotton fabric and cotton thread. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap
What if I need something even stiffer that is fusible on both sides?
Fast2Fuse Heavyweight is a double-sided fusible that is very stiff, for boxes, fabric postcards and 3D projects where both faces are covered with fabric. Fast2Fuse Heavyweight 15" x 18"
