Description
Pellon 809 Décor-Bond is a firm, one-sided fusible non-woven that gives fabric extra crispness and support. It is the stabilizer for placemats, director's chair slings, lampshades, drapery headers, valances and fabric boxes. At 45" wide it covers a full placemat or lampshade panel without piecing, and the 10-yard bolt is enough for a whole room of window treatments.
Décor-Bond is 100% polyester and fuses to the wrong side of the fabric in one pass. Where you need more rigidity, Pellon recommends two layers. It is firmer than 808 Craft-Fuse but still cuts and sews easily; for something you can stitch without fusing, see 926 Sew-In Extra-Firm.

- Décor-Bond or Peltex 70 for placemats and fabric boxes?
- Peltex 70 is much stiffer and is sew-in; it is for pieces that must stand up, such as box sides and bag bases. Décor-Bond is fusible and gives crisp body while still bending, which is what most placemats and valances want. If you want Peltex-level stiffness with an iron-on, use two layers of Décor-Bond. - Is Décor-Bond the same as HeatnBond VersaCraft or Craf-Tex?
- They are competing firm fusible non-wovens. Craf-Tex Plus comes as a 20" x 36" sheet and VersaCraft as a 20" x 2 yard pack; Décor-Bond is 45" wide on a 10-yard bolt, which is the better fit for wide home-decor panels. Craf-Tex Plus single-sided fusible 20" x 36"
- Which side is fusible and how do I press it?
- The side with the adhesive dots goes against the wrong side of the fabric. Cover with a press cloth and press section by section with a lift-and-set motion. Pellon does not state a temperature on this bolt, so test on a scrap of your fabric first.
- Can I wash a project made with Décor-Bond?
- Décor-Bond is polyester and is used in washable home decor such as placemats. Wash according to the fabric's care requirements and let the piece cool flat after any pressing; a hot dryer can soften the bond, so air drying is safer.
- Is it microwave safe for a bowl cozy?
- No. Décor-Bond is 100% polyester with a fusible adhesive and must not go in the microwave. For bowl cozies and hot pads use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap cotton batting with cotton fabric and thread. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap 45" x 1 yard
