Description

Pellon 987F is the fusible fleece bag makers and crafters keep on hand: a one-sided iron-on fleece that adds a layer of softness, body and stability without pinning, basting or sewing it in place. The 22" x 36" package suits a small bag, a set of placemats, a pouch or a lined basket. This is the white package; under dark or semi-sheer fabrics use the black.

It fuses to fabric, cardboard or wood, and is completely sewing-machine safe once fused. It is 100% polyester. For bigger projects the 45" x 60" package has about four and a half times the coverage, and the 45" x 10 yard bolt is the studio size. Also stocked in black.

Compare and choose

When should I use black fusible fleece instead of white?
Use white under most light and mid-tone fabrics. When the outer fabric is dark or semi-sheer, black fleece keeps white fibers from showing at seams, needle holes and worn edges. The two colors are otherwise identical. Pellon 987F 22" x 36" in black
What is the difference between fusible fleece and batting?
Fusible fleece bonds directly to the fabric with an iron, so it stays put without quilting or basting, which is ideal for bags and small projects. Batting is loose and must be held by quilting stitches. Fleece is also denser and lower loft than most batting, so bags keep a smooth, padded look.
987F fusible fleece or Soft and Stable foam for a bag?
Fleece gives soft padding and light body; the bag is flexible and can be folded. Soft and Stable foam gives a thick, structured wall that stands up on its own. Use 987F for pouches, soft totes, linings and anything you want to stay supple; use foam for boxy bags and bags that should hold their shape empty. ByAnnie Soft and Stable 18" x 58"
Which side of Pellon 987F is the adhesive side?
The side with the slightly shiny, dotted texture. Place it against the wrong side of the fabric, cover with a press cloth and press, do not glide, for about 10 to 15 seconds per section. Let it cool before moving the piece.
Can I sew through 987F after fusing?
Yes. It is completely sewing-machine safe and adds structure without gumming up the needle.
Is 987F microwave safe for bowl cozies or hot pads?
No. It is 100% polyester with a fusible adhesive, so it must not go in the microwave. Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap cotton batting with cotton fabric and thread for microwave projects. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap 45" x 1 yard
Is 987F the same as Thermolam Plus TP971F?
Both are Pellon one-sided fusible fleeces. Thermolam Plus is thicker and loftier, more like a needled fleece, and comes in a 45" x 60" package; 987F is thinner and more flexible. For placemats and padded bags that should feel plush, Thermolam Plus; for everyday bags and small projects, 987F. Pellon TP971F Thermolam Plus Fusible Fleece 45" x 60"
