Description
Quilters Dream Request White Poly on the roll, for longarm and production quilters who want the thinnest Dream Poly loft by the yard. Request is a lightweight, consistent microfiber polyester developed for hand quilters and lightweight summer quilts, with an exceptional drape; on the longarm, float the top. Each roll is 120" wide by 30 yards. The 120" width is the king roll: it covers king tops in one piece and cuts queen, full and twin batts sideways with little waste, around nine king quilts per roll. The ultra-bright white is the right batting under white and light negative space.
Dream Poly is not an ordinary polyester. It is made from very fine denier microfibers, over 60 million fibers per pound against about 5 million in a typical poly batt, which is what gives it a soft hand, real drape and breathability. The fibers are blended, carded, crosslapped and needle-punched with no scrim, resin or glue, so needles glide through it. It resists bunching and shifting, can be quilted up to 12" apart, does not shrink, and resists holding a crease, which makes it a good choice for quilts that get folded, packed and shipped. Machine wash and dry the finished quilt, or dry clean.
This roll is a pre-order item and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

Compare and choose
- Do I need the 120" roll for a king quilt?
- Yes. A king top runs about 120" x 120", and the 93" roll is not wide enough to cover it in one piece. The 120" roll also cuts queen, full and twin batts sideways with less waste, so many studios run only this width.
- Roll or pre-cut package: which format should I buy?
- The roll is the lowest cost per yard and the right choice if you quilt for customers or finish several quilts a year. The pre-cut package is one batt sized for one quilt, from Craft to King, and ships without the roll lead time. Request Poly package
- Request, Select or Deluxe: which Dream Poly loft?
- Same microfiber polyester, three thicknesses. Request is the thinnest, made for hand quilters and lightweight summer quilts. Select is the mid loft and the most popular: the all-purpose choice for bed quilts, modern quilts and wearables. Deluxe is the heaviest, adding warmth, weight and stitch definition for machine-quilted projects. All three quilt up to 12" apart and have no scrim.
- Quilters Dream Poly vs Hobbs Poly-Down: what is the difference?
- Both are soft polyester battings that do not shrink. Poly-Down is a bonded polyester with a springy, down-like loft and a 4" quilting distance. Dream Poly is needle-punched microfiber with no resin, a denser and more drapey hand, and a 12" quilting distance. Choose Dream Poly for drape and wide stitch spacing; choose Poly-Down for a puffier, cloud-like look. Hobbs Poly-Down 108" roll
- Can I run Request Poly on a longarm?
- Yes, by floating the top. Request is thin and has no scrim, so do not pin it to the leaders and stretch it on its own; lay it over the backing, float the top and advance normally. For a poly that pins and rolls like a heavier batting, use the Select or Deluxe loft. Select White Poly 93" roll
- Will Dream Poly shrink or crinkle when washed?
- No. Dream Poly has zero shrinkage, so the quilt keeps the flat, smooth look it had on the frame. If you want the antique crinkle, pair it with unwashed cotton fabric so the fabric shrinks instead, or choose a cotton batting. Do not pre-wash the batting.
- Can I use polyester batting for microwave bowl cozies or hot pads?
- No. Polyester melts and can scorch in a microwave. Use 100% cotton batting with no scrim, such as Quilters Dream Cotton, or Pellon Wrap-N-Zap, with cotton fabric and cotton thread. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap
- Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
- No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
