Description
This is a precut 20" x 50" piece of Bosal Craf-Tex Plus, a heavyweight, stiff non-woven that is fusible on both sides. It is sized for a table runner: lay your fashion fabric on both sides, cover with a pressing cloth and press the whole piece. The double-sided fusible bonds front and back in one step, so there is no quilting needed to hold the layers.
Finish the edges with bias binding or a simple trim and the runner is done. It gives a firm, flat runner that does not slump or wrinkle on the table. If you want placemats to match, the Craf-Tex placemat craft pack is the same idea in placemat size.

- Do I need batting in a Craf-Tex table runner?
- No. Craf-Tex Plus replaces the batting. It is a stiff heavyweight stabilizer fused to the top and backing fabric, so the runner lies flat and holds its shape without quilting. If you want a soft, quilted runner instead, use a thin batting and quilt it as usual.
- Double-sided or single-sided Craf-Tex: which do I need?
- Double-sided (this precut) bonds fabric to both faces at once, which is ideal for runners, placemats and bowls where both sides show. Single-sided Craf-Tex Plus bonds to one fabric only; use it when the other side will be lined or sewn in separately. Craf-Tex Plus single-sided 20" x 36"
- How do I fuse fabric to both sides?
- Lay the backing fabric wrong side up, place the Craf-Tex on it, then the top fabric right side up. Cover with a pressing cloth and press the whole piece, then flip and press the back. Let it cool flat before trimming and binding.
- Craf-Tex Plus vs Fast2Fuse vs Timtex: what is the difference?
- All three are stiff heavyweight stabilizers. Craf-Tex Plus and Fast2Fuse are fusible on both sides; Timtex is sew-in, so it has to be stitched or held with fusible web. For a table runner, the double-sided fusibles are the quicker choice. Fast2Fuse Heavyweight 15" x 18"
- Can I put a hot dish on a Craf-Tex table runner?
- Do not treat it as a trivet. Craf-Tex is a polyester stabilizer, not a heat-resistant insulation, and it is not microwave safe. Use a hot pad under hot dishes.
