Description
Hobbs Tuscany Supreme 100% Unbleached Cotton in a 72" x 96" twin package, for twin bed quilts up to about 68" x 92". Hobbs calls Supreme their thickest, most cuddly and most plush cotton batting, designed for a soft hand and an even appearance, and it is exceptionally easy to quilt by machine.
It is clean, unbleached, long-staple virgin cotton carrying the Cotton Incorporated Seal, with no scrim or binders; it is lightly needle-punched to resist bunching and shifting. Quilt it 3" to 4" apart. It shrinks 4-6% after washing, giving the traditional, antique puckering many quilters want; the closer and denser the quilting, the less it shrinks.
It is designed for medium and dark fabrics: under white or very light fabrics the unbleached cotton can slightly darken the color. Hobbs recommends making a sample to see how it needles and launders before a major project.

- Tuscany Supreme vs Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton: which should I buy?
- Heirloom 100% Cotton has a scrim for strength and a low loft for a flat, traditional finish. Tuscany Supreme has no scrim or binders and is Hobbs' plushest cotton, so it is softer and fuller but must be quilted closer, 3" to 4" apart. Choose Supreme for a cuddly bed quilt, Heirloom for everyday durability. Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton packages
- How much will it shrink?
- About 4-6% after washing, more than most cotton/poly blends. That shrinkage gives the antique, puckered look. Quilting closer and more densely reduces it. Do not pre-wash the batting.
- Is the 72" x 96" twin big enough?
- It covers twin tops up to about 68" x 92" with 2" of batting around each side. For a full or queen top, use the 96" x 108" queen; for a king, the 120" x 120". Tuscany Supreme 96" x 108" queen
- Can I use it under a white quilt?
- Test first. It is unbleached and designed for medium and dark fabrics; under white or very light fabric it can slightly darken the color. For white tops, look at a bleached cotton such as Hobbs Tuscany 100% Bleached Cotton. Hobbs Tuscany Bleached Cotton
- Tuscany Supreme vs Quilters Dream Supreme?
- Both are the heaviest all-cotton battings in their makers' lines, with no scrim or resin. Quilters Dream Supreme comes in more pre-cut sizes from craft to king and on rolls; Tuscany Supreme is sold in twin, queen and king packages. Both should be quilted fairly closely.
