Description

In-R-Form Plus is Bosal's double-sided fusible foam stabilizer: a foam core laminated to napped tricot that is fusible on both sides. This package holds one pre-cut 54" x 58" sheet, sized for the Happy Hauler Bag pattern, AT640 (pattern not included), and large enough for most big totes, weekenders and storage baskets.

Fuse the outer fabric to one face and the lining to the other and the bag panel is done in one pressing, with body that stands up on its own but still bends and turns. It is the material many bag patterns call for by name.

If you only need panels for a purse or small tote, the 18" x 58" and 36" x 58" sheets cost less. The Uptown Bag precut is the same 54" x 58" size packaged for Auntie's Two City Bag patterns.

Compare and choose

Which size In-R-Form Plus sheet should I buy?
All three sheets are 58" long. The 18" x 58" covers a purse or small tote, the 36" x 58" covers a medium tote or two small bags, and the 54" x 58" covers large totes, weekenders and the Happy Hauler pattern. Lay your pattern pieces out on paper at the sheet size before you buy. 36" x 58" sheet
Single-sided or double-sided fusible: which do I need?
Double-sided fusible lets you fuse an outer fabric to one side and a lining to the other in one step, which is how quilt-as-you-go bags, baskets and pattern precuts are built. Single-sided fusible bonds to one fabric only, so you sew in the lining or leave the back raw inside. Use double-sided when both faces show, single-sided when one side is hidden. How do I fuse In-R-Form?
Lay the fabric wrong side down on the fusible side and press with a hot iron, following the directions on the package. Lift and set the iron down rather than gliding, so the foam and fabric do not shift, until the fabric is bonded across the whole piece. Test on a scrap first, and let it cool before handling so the bond sets.
In-R-Form vs Soft and Stable vs Flex-Foam: which foam should I use?
All three give bags structure without stiffness. In-R-Form is Bosal's foam laminated to a soft knit and comes sew-in, single-sided fusible or double-sided fusible. Soft and Stable from ByAnnie is a sew-in foam sold in 58" long pieces. Pellon Flex-Foam comes on 20" x 10 yard bolts in sew-in, one-sided and two-sided fusible versions. Pick by pattern: if the pattern calls for one by name, buy that one. Soft and Stable white 18" x 58"
In-R-Form Plus vs Craf-Tex Plus: what is the difference?
Both are double-sided fusible, but they behave differently. In-R-Form Plus is foam, so it gives soft, cushioned structure that bends and springs back. Craf-Tex Plus is a heavyweight non-woven, so it is firm and flat, better for bag bottoms, boxes and placemats that should not flex. Craf-Tex Plus double-sided fusible
Can I use In-R-Form in a microwave bowl cozy or hot pad?
No. In-R-Form is a polyester foam with fusible adhesive, and foam and fusibles are not microwave-safe. For microwave bowl cozies use 100% cotton batting with cotton thread, and for hot pads use a heat-resistant insulated batting with cotton batting.
