How do I make placemats with this pack?

Cut fabric a little larger than each shape for the front and back. Lay the front fabric on one side, cover with a press cloth and press with medium steam; turn over and fuse the back the same way. Trim the fabric to the shape, then bind or trim the edges.

Do I need batting with these placemats?

No. The heavyweight Craf-Tex Plus gives the body and flatness, and both fabrics fuse directly to it, so there is no batting or basting. You can add decorative stitching after fusing if you like.

This Bosal Placemat Craft Pack includes four 14-1/4" x 18-1/2" rectangles with a rounded top of Craf-Tex Plus: 100% polyester, needle-punched, heavyweight and fusible on both sides. Choose any fabric you like, press it to the front and back using a press cloth and medium steam, finish the edge with bias binding or trim, and you have a set of four firm, flat placemats with no batting and no quilting.
