Description

The Sulky Stabilizer Sampler Pack holds one 8" x 10" sheet of all 19 styles of Sulky stabilizers. It is the low-cost way to try every Sulky stabilizer on your own fabrics and designs before you buy full rolls, and a good teaching tool for classes and new embroiderers.

Sulky groups its stabilizers into four categories by how they are removed: cut-away, tear-away, wash-away and heat-away, with color-coded packaging and icons for each. Test a few on scraps of the fabrics you sew most, then choose with confidence the ones that work best for you.

Compare and choose

Tear-away vs cut-away vs wash-away: what is the difference?
Tear-away is torn off after stitching and is for stable woven fabrics. Cut-away stays in, trimmed around the design, and supports knits and stretch fabrics for the life of the item. Wash-away dissolves in water and leaves nothing, for sheers, toppers and freestanding lace. Heat-away is removed with an iron.
How should I use the sampler?
Stitch the same test design on a scrap of your usual fabric with each candidate stabilizer, then wash the samples. Label each one; the stabilizer that gives a flat, pucker-free result after washing is the one to buy by the roll.
How do I pick the weight for my design?
Match the stabilizer to the stitch count and the fabric. Light, open designs need a light stabilizer; dense fills and satin stitches need a heavier or firmer one, or two layers. Stretchy fabric always needs a cut-away.
Is there a Pellon sampler too?
Yes. The Pellon embroidery sampler is four 12" x 5 yard rolls: Stitch-N-Tear Lite, Soft-N-Stay, Sol-U-Film Lite and Fuse-N-Tear. It gives you more of fewer styles; the Sulky pack gives a sheet of each of 19. Pellon embroidery sampler pack
Which Sulky stabilizer should I start with?
For woven fabrics, Tear Easy or Stiffy; for knits, Soft 'n Sheer cut-away; for towels, a Solvy topper; for items you cannot hoop, Sticky+. Sulky Tear Easy 12"
