Description
CutAway Medium is OESD's mid-weight cut-away backing for medium to heavy stitch count designs. It stays behind the embroidery after you trim the excess, so the design keeps its shape through washing and wearing. It works with soft fabrics as well as crisper ones, and it is the usual pick for medium-weight stretchy fabrics such as knits and lightweight denim. It softens after washing.
The 15" roll covers everything up to an 8" x 12" hoop. For large, stitch-intensive designs on denim, sweatshirt fleece and heavy knits, step up to CutAway Heavy. For thin or light-colored knits where any backing might show, PolyMesh is the lighter no-show choice.

Cuts are the hoop size plus about 2" each way, laid along the 10-yard length at the 15" width and turned where that fits more. Counts are approximate and assume no waste.

- Cut-away. Knits stretch with every wear and a tear-away leaves nothing behind to hold the stitches. Save tear-away for stable wovens such as towels, canvas and quilting cotton.

- How much backing should I leave when I trim?
- Trim with curved embroidery scissors after unhooping, leaving a small margin around the design so the outer stitches stay supported, and round the corners so they do not poke through the garment.
