Description
Heat Press Batting Together is a cloth tape that fuses two edges of batting together, so leftover pieces become one usable batt instead of going in the bin. Butt the edges, lay the tape over the join and press. It is soft and thin, and it stretches, so the join moves with the quilt instead of making a stiff line. This is the 1-1/2" wide, 15-yard roll in white: enough for several long joins on bed-size batting, and the width most quilters use for a straight butted seam. It is the same size as the stocked white 1-1/2" x 15 yd roll.
It is needle-easy for hand or machine quilting, so you can quilt straight across the join, and it works on any batting fiber content: cotton, blends, polyester, wool or bamboo. Iron settings matter more than pressure with fusible tape; test on a scrap of your batting before you work on the real piece.

Compare and choose
- How do I join two pieces of batting with this tape?
- Overlap the two pieces, cut a gentle wavy line through both at once, and remove the trimmings so the edges butt together with no gap and no overlap. Lay the tape over the seam, centered, and press with the iron rather than sliding it, moving along the seam. Let it cool before you handle the batting.
- Which width should I buy?
- The 1-1/2" tape is the general-purpose width for butted joins on bed-size batting. The 3/4" tape is for small projects and narrow scraps. The 100-yard roll is the bulk option if you join batting all the time. Heat Press 1-1/2" x 15 yd white
- Can I quilt through the join?
- Yes. The tape is soft, thin and needle-easy, so it quilts by hand or machine without catching, and once the quilt is finished you will not feel the seam.
- Does it work on wool or polyester batting?
- Yes, it works on any batting fiber. Polyester and wool can flatten or melt under a hot iron, so turn the iron down for those and test on a scrap first.
- Heat Press tape vs Bosal batting seam tape: what is the difference?
- Heat Press is a cloth tape with a soft fuse that stretches, which is forgiving on lofty batting and slightly curved joins. Bosal seam tape is a lightweight non-woven fusible. Both make a flat join that quilts through cleanly. Bosal batting seam tape 2" x 30 yd
- Is there a black version for dark quilts?
- Yes. A black 1-1/2" x 10 yd roll is available, so the join stays invisible under black or navy quilts and with black batting. Heat Press tape, black
