How should I store rolls I am not using yet?

Keep them boxed or bagged, lying flat or standing on end in a dry room, away from direct sun. Batting does not go bad, but it will pick up dust and odors if left open. Unroll what you need and re-roll the rest snugly.

Is a 96" roll wide enough for king quilts?

No. A king top runs 108" to 120" wide and needs the 120" roll to be covered in one piece. The 96" roll handles everything through queen (90" x 108").

Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?

No. Rolls ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations.

Hobbs 80/20 vs Linda's Deluxe roll: which should a studio stock?

Both are 96" cotton/poly blend rolls made by Hobbs. Heirloom 80/20 is the known quantity with published specs: 1/8" loft, 3-5% shrinkage, quilt within 4". Linda's Deluxe is our house blend made for us by Hobbs. Studios that already quote clients on 80/20 should stay with it; if you are curious about our house roll, try one before committing to four.

How close does Hobbs 80/20 need to be quilted?

Within 4". Closer quilting gives a flat, antique look; spacing out toward 4" lets the loft come up slightly. Do not pre-wash; expect 3-5% shrinkage on the first wash.

Four full rolls of Hobbs Heirloom 80/20, each 96" wide by 30 yards, in one order. This is the bundle for longarm studios and quilt shops that run 80/20 as their default batting and would rather restock once a season than once a month. Four rolls is 120 yards: roughly forty queen quilts' worth of batting, all one lot, all the same hand.

Heirloom 80/20 is the batting most of our longarm customers reach for first. The 80% natural cotton gives a soft, breathable, traditional feel; the 20% polyester adds strength, shape retention and crisp stitch definition. It is needle-punched so it does not shift or bunch under the needle, and the loft is consistent across the width and down the roll. It quilts well by machine and longarm, works on dark and light fabrics (test under white), and is machine washable and dryable once in the quilt.

Please Note: We are unable to ship rolls of batting to Alaska, Hawaii or anywhere outside the 48 contiguous states. If an order comes through from these locations, it will be cancelled and refunded. Sorry for the trouble.
