Description

Warm Fleece Sew-In is a soft polyester fleece batting for bags, placemats, table runners, quilted jackets, wall hangings and craft projects that need body and a little cushion without an iron-on adhesive. The 45" x 20 yard roll is for bag makers, garment sewists and classrooms who use fleece constantly. If you want the fleece to stick to the fabric before you sew, use Fusible Warm Fleece 1 (one side) or Fusible Warm Fleece 2 (both sides) instead.

It is made from plush U.S.-made polyester fibers, so it holds its shape through use and laundering, stays flexible, and does not shrink. That makes it a good choice when finished dimensions matter, such as bag panels cut to a pattern or placemats that must stay square. Because it is sew-in, you can shift and reposition layers right up until you stitch them, which many bag makers prefer to a fused layer.

Machine washable. Being polyester, it is not for microwave projects; use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap for those.

Compare and choose

Sew-in or fusible Warm Fleece: which do I need?
Sew-in when you want to position and reposition layers before stitching, when the fabric cannot take an iron, or when you are quilting the layers anyway. Fusible when you want the fleece bonded flat to the fabric first, which is faster for bag panels and gives a smoother face. Fusible Warm Fleece 1 fuses on one side; Fusible Warm Fleece 2 fuses on both. Fusible Warm Fleece 1 (one-sided) 45" x 20 yd
Warm Fleece Sew-In vs Pellon 988 Sew-In Fleece?
They do the same job: a soft polyester fleece you stitch in for body and cushion in bags, placemats and garments. Warm Fleece comes on a 20-yard roll, Pellon 988 on a 10-yard bolt, so the choice is mostly about how much you use. Both wash well and neither shrinks. Pellon 988 Sew-In Fleece 45" x 10 yd
Can I use Warm Fleece as quilt batting?
Yes, for lightweight quilts, wall hangings and quilted garments where a soft polyester layer is wanted. It is thinner and firmer than a true polyester quilt batting such as Soft & Bright, so for a lofty bed quilt use Soft & Bright instead. Soft & Bright polyester batting 90" x 25 yd
Is Warm Fleece good for bags?
It is one of the standard choices. It adds soft structure and padding to totes, pouches and bag linings while staying flexible enough to turn and topstitch. For a bag that must stand up on its own, pair it with or swap in a foam stabilizer.
Can I use Warm Fleece for hot pads or microwave bowl cozies?
Not for the microwave; it is polyester and can melt. For oven mitts and trivets used outside the microwave, pair it with Insul-Bright. For anything microwaved, use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap with cotton fabric and thread. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
Does Warm Fleece shrink?
No. The manufacturer rates it at zero shrinkage, and it is designed to hold its shape through washing, so cut it to your pattern size with confidence.
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
